For first time applicantsWe applied for our visa exactly two weeks before our flight. My best friend and I decided to process our own visa because it was cheaper if we do it than pay an agent or travel agency. EmbassyEmbassy of the People's Republic of China

Express VPNYou might have heard that most of the social media apps are blocked in China which means that you have to download a VPN app or Virtual Private Network app to be able to use Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Make sure you download it before you land in China because you can no longer download or activate it if you do it in China. Among all the VPNs I tried, this one is the easiest - you just have to click the power button to connect. Metro Shanghai SubwayWe would have not survived if not for this one - I highly recommend it among all Shanghai Metro apps. My favorite part is that it has 4 functions - Search, Metro, Stations and Maps. In 'Search' function, you can input your subway station and to where you are going, you also can add the time "Now" or the future date and time. Once you do, it will give you options - Best Route or Fewer Transfers. You can also see the Line, Fare, Km and Time, so if you're in a hurry it will help so much to know which route is the fastest or if you're tired you can take the route with less transfer. For the 'Metro', it shows you the whole subway system of Shanghai so you can identify the line colors and subway stops. Did you know that the Shanghai Metro is the longest metro in the world - and again, very efficient too! The 'Stations' shows all the stations of Shanghai Metro, if you click one station it will have the list of Exits, Facilities or Connecting lines, Floor Map, Timetable and Nearby Dining, Hotel, Cinema and Scenic. The last feature of the app is the 'Map' which is literally a map with the metro stations. |
